2008 Baseball Booster Club Parent Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
January 31, 2008 Meeting
Items of Discussion:
- The Advisory Committee will meet approximately every two weeks prior to the season and then once a month after the season begins.
- The purpose of the committee is to eliminate rumors by keeping in touch with the parents and communicating any questions or concerns.
- The JV parents must be kept in the communication loop.
- We need to place the game report summaries on the web site. Have the JV and Varsity stat keepers
- The dugout project
- It is taking longer thatn expected
- The drawings went to district for approval
- Now they must go th the Architect for approval and revisions
- Acme brick is donting 7000 bricks
- David Spurlin will be providing the construction
- There is a problem with the redesign of the fence. The existing fence will be torn down on the third base side
- The back stop will get larger
- The fence will cone out of the booster club funds
- The District will not participate in the cost
- The target date is June or July for construction.
- It may have an impact on the number of summer games played on our field.
- Trent Owens and Bob Hendricks are contacts for the Summer Berkner teams
- There is a need for parents to volunteer to coach the younger Berkner teams in the Summer/Fall.
- The Ranger ballpark game is continuing to become problematic and teams are reducing rather than increasing. The interest is not as promising as it has been in the past. The Rough Rider stadium has a program as well if the Ranger ballpark does not continue to work.
- The re-Districting is out for review on Friday.
- The practice schedule will be 3:30 –6:30 daily and 9-12 Saturdays
- Tryouts produced 26 JV players and 17 Varsity players for this season
- All boys need to ice their arms after practice every day at home to reduce or eliminate injury
